Visiting Cruise Ships for 2008

29 04 2008

QM2 leaving the Cromarty Firth

The Cromarty Firth is a frequent destination for Cruise liners visiting the port of Invergordon.

These ships pass close to Cromarty along the deep water channel, and you can sometimes see dolphins bow riding as they go out, followed by the Port Authority Pilot boat, waiting to collect the pilot once he’s steered them into the Moray Firth.

Cromarty has the pleasure of many of the passengers visiting our town to admire the scenery, the architecture, and the hospitality of our town.

The provisional list for 2008 is below. Vessels marked * are on their maiden voyage here.

So, fancy a change? Buy a Post Office

18 03 2008

It’s come to light that the Cromarty sub Post Office is going up for sale.

This light, bright and busy little office is being put on the market by the current owner Marcel Gommers.

If your correspondent didn’t already have two jobs, he might be interested. Take a look, if you’re passing.

In the Northern Highlands?

17 02 2008

The article in the Inverness Courier suggests we’ll be represented by the Thurso MSP

the Boundary Commission’s plans for the Black Isle. Currently linked to Dingwall and Ross-shire at both Holyrood and Westminster, there is a case for it to be part of a greater Inverness, given that so many of its residents now look to the city for work, shopping and leisure activities. But in their wisdom, the commissioners have decided that residents … should be represented by the MSP for Thurso in the new North Highland constituency.

How do you feel about being part of North Highland.

Pleased?

Concerned?

Indifferent?

Welcome to a Cromarty blog

17 02 2008

Cromarty Live had a message board for a long time where we had all sorts of posters. We also had all sorts of spam for watches, “medication” and such like, and it was very hard for the long suffering editor to keep control of.

Another couple of forums were tried, but unpopular.

The editor of Cromarty Live likes playing about with this sort of stuff, and thought it might be worth trying a blog approach.

What do you think?
